How to hold the charcoal or pencil in a right way when standing at easel

There is a difference between holding the drawing instrument for drawing and for writing. The reason is the size of your working format. When we work at easel, the size of our working format (a canvas or a sheet of drawing paper) is much bigger than the notebook. So the hand movements for drawing have a different charcteristics and becomes more variable: we make them from the elbow and from the shoulder. Whilst when we write - we use the wrist, that handels the pencil in a different way, that more suitable for the less variable movements
